Kidz:

Yesterday I got the four 128-meg 168-pin FPM DIMMs from Jean-Pierre
VanHoegaerden and today I got the 3dfx Voodoo5 5500 64-meg Macintosh
version of the PCI video card from Jeff Preischel on the Low end Mac
SWAP list.

Everything went into my PCI Daystar Genesis MP 800+ and worked
flawlessly. The card has two fans on it and requires a Y cable to the
hard-drive cable to power the fans.

I used a tiny mirror and flashlight to check the fans on the two video
chips and they spun up as soon as the Genesis was powered on. I was
already running the latest 3dfx driver package, Version 1.1.3, Build 22,
because I have a 16-Meg Voodoo3 2000 installed in the Genesis. When I
opened the 3dfx MacTools utility it checked out the Voodoo5 card and
offered to upgrade the firmware on the card. Neat !!!

The minimum requirements from 3dfx for the Voodoo5 5500 are a PCI G3 but
with this latest driver set BOTH of the chips are recognised on my 604e
system....and all of the acceleration features appear to be usable.
