I have a 7300, as you all know (or should do the way I've been whining about it since I got it), and have a distinct problem. I fitted a 12" PC compatibility card, a PCI USB card and a PCI FireWire card. All was dandy, all three worked fined until I tried to play an audio CD through iTunes to my USB Audio module from a CD on the FireWire card in a friend's burner. The music played for a few seconds then the entire USB bus went dead. I thought it was the FireWire card, it's a particularly cheap and nasty card that I got as a result of the fact it didn't work in a PC (one up for Macs again - it works fine in my 7300). Well I pulled it out yesterday to test the Voodoo 1 card I was talking about and lo and behold when I run Unreal tourny with the USB Audio module plugged in the 3Dfx card hangs.
Is this a result of me trying to move high volumes of data over more than 1 PCI card at once? Would this be related to the timing issue that was experienced with some ATA cards on similar machines? Am I chained to only utilising one PCI for high bandwidth operations at one time? Could this be effecting my PC Card in the same way (I have suffered a good many random hangs)? Is this also why accessing the hard disk while copying large files (it was a CD image) across a network causes the files to corrupt? Question barrage ends. Sorry to give you guys the Spanish inquisition (NO-BODY EXPECTS THE SPANISH INQUISITION...etc) but this is a pretty serious issue I have to clarify to prevent damage in the future. -- -- Mark Benson SilValleyPirate - AIM silicon_valley_pirate_uk - Yahoo!
