Hi Tom,

I'm running a pair of ST-39140N's in my 7500. If you put it in the upper bay
you should have no problems as far as heat. I can't comment on noise since
I'm in a very noisy environment. I did notice that the 9 gig Medalist I put
in the lower bay was quieter after I removed it from the external drive which
had a noisy fan.

If your put the drive in the lower bay you will need a cooling fan. My lower
drive runs at 100 - 110 F with a small cooling fan added. I'm thinking of
upgrading my cooling to a larger fan or a better arrangement. The max temp
according the manual is around 120 F.

I have been using the Medalist 9 gig drive in upper bay drive for several
years with no unusual problems. I works fine with graphic art programs like
PhotoShop, Quark, PageMaker, Illustrator. I have no experience A/V programs
and these drives.

The system is: 7500 -- xlr8 G3 466/1MB 512MB RAM a pair of ST39140N's, OS 8.6
and a bunch of SCSI devices -- my bread and butter machine!

Go for it --glen
