Nancy.

If you use the key on the right side of the option key, the one that looks
like a flower, and the shift and three key it will take a full picture of
your desktop and save it on the root level of your hard drive.  If you do
the same key combination but replace the three with the 4 then you can
select what part of the screen you take a picture of.
