Of the current serial modems on the market I recommend The US 
Robotics 56k Faxmodem. It's a basic, bog standard 56k Fax Modem but 
it will work on anything that has a serial support and Hayes 
compatible drivers. That includes Mac OS, Windows, BSD, Linux, Sun (I 
think), a McLaren F1 (no really - I'm serious!) and many other 
terminal systems and older computers.
