I "upgraded" to the shareware 2.2.4 firmware on my UltraTek card, and
I liked the 30 megabytes/second it gave my mac, but I diddn't like
the way it quit supporting slave mode drives. Nobody knew of a way to
downgrade to the version 1.1.2 (stock) firmware. I found the way.

Download the shareware 2.2.4 updater from OWC, download the 1.1.2
updater from vsttech.com. Open 'em both in resedit. Copy the "fwre"
resource from the 1.1.2 updater and paste it into the 2.2.4 updater,
saying that you do want to replace resources with the same ID. save
and quit.

Open up the modified 2.2.4 updater, it will say that it will be
updating to 2.2.4. update your card to "2.2.4". Reboot, and you'll
have the 1.1.2 firmware again.

All this is necessary because the 1.1.2 updater doesn't recognize the
card after it has been updated to 2.2.4.

Also, with the same drive and card and mac, the 1.1.2 firmware gives
about 18 megabytes per second, the 2.2.4 gives 33 or so. What gives?

Trying to decide which firmware I like best,

Tyler Smith
