O.K. , I bow to your experience and surrender!

I hadn't turned it back on in the 9500 anyway, since my last crash resolution -
it really never gave me a lick of trouble with 7.6.1 in the 040s though.

And MARC van GEMERT. . .
You'll be happy to know I removed Conflict Catcher 8 in favor
of the good old simplicity of the Extensions Manager.
What cinched my decision (besides your advice) was my TechTool Pro
3.0.6 telling me that Conflict Catcher was being a CONFLICT!

Re. the "crash resolution":
After switching back to Extensions Manager and dumping CC
my 9500 froze exactly as before, just as the HD icon mounted
and the clock date and time showed up in the menu bar!

THE PROBLEM WAS THAT BOTH THE DATE/TIME CP AND EXTENSION
WERE NOT ABLED - only one of them was.
This time DISK LIGHT was definitely not on.
How that happened in the beginning when Real Player started freezing
I'm not sure.

Thanks for the good advice,

Can someone tell me where I can get an updated version of my old alarm
clock that doesn't want to work with PPC, OS 8.6?

Terry
