The immediate problem is your monitor, it is not capable of anything 
bigger than 640x480. You need a monitor (like those PC monitors you 
are talking about) that will do a higher resolution. If you've got 
the PCI slot to spare, you probably want a Voodoo3 to drive it, too, 
because they are cheap, plentiful, and fast. You'll be *much* happier 
in general with your computer once you have a fast video card doing 
at least 1024x768, in addition to being able to run iMovie.

Don't throw your old apple 12" away, though, because dual monitors is 
great, especially if your primary monitor is only a 15" one.You could 
run 1024x768 on the VGA monitor and have the 12" off to the side for 
pallettes and that sort of thing.
