Chrys, No worries. The Firewire card (Apple/Solectron) in my 9600 isn't recognized by ASP either, but works great all the same. My OWC Elite Firewire drive runs nice and fast. Running OS 9.1, FW Enabler & Support, v 2.8.4 (from OS 9.2.1 updater).
FWIW, ASP can't see the PCI Firewire card in my B&W G3 either (same OS and extension setup as above). I think it might be a little nearsighted when it comes to PCI Firewire. YMMV. Al Hutchinson <<<Date: Tue, 28 May 2002 20:59:46 -0400 Subject: Firewire Blues From: Chrys Cruz <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> Message-Id: <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> Hey all, Has anyone had any problems installing a firewire card in a 9600/200? I've bought two of them already, and nothing . . . Apple System Profiler sees a card there, but cannot report the card type or the card rom #. I tried switching PCI slots, still nothing. Even pulled the USB card and used the slot it resided in. Neither card I bought came with a driver, but as I understand, they don't need one. The first card came fom New Egg, so that might be questionable, but the second card came from OWC, which explicitly states that it works on any PCI Mac with 8.6 or higher. I'm running OS 9.1, and Firewire Authoring Support v1.1, Firewire Enabler v2.8.2, & Firewire Support v2.8.2 extension are all enabled. Any insight would be greatly appreciated, thanks! __Chrys -- Chrys R.
