The Beige DT has these bays:

1) above the power supply basic hard drive; limited to 1" high 3.5" hard
drives,

2) top expansion bay; used by standard floppy drive, but can be used for any
1.6" high drive of any type,

3) second expansion bay; used by standard CD-ROM drive, but can be used for
any 1.6" high drive of any type,

4) third expansion bay; used by optional Zip drive, but can be used for any
1.6" high drive of any type,

5) fourth expansion bay; empty, but can be used for any 1.6" high drive of
any type.

The Beige comes with all trays, but only with bezels of the appropriate type.

In addition to those mentioned above, the 9600 has these bays:

6a) front bottom expansion bay; can be used for any 1.6" high 3.5" hard
drive, and

7a) rear bottom expansion bay; can be used for any 1.6" high 3.5" hard drive,
or

6b) bottom expansion bay; can be used for any 1.6" high 5.25" hard drive.

Theoretically, you could piggy-back two 1" high hard drives in each of the
bottom expansion bays, giving you a total of NINE drives.

The main difference betweent an 8500 case and a 9500 case is the 9500 case
can accommodate 1.6" high 3.5" hard drives in its expansion bays while the
8500 can accommodate 1.6" high 3.5" hard drives in only one of them.

Also, there was available an optional bracket to hold additional 1" high 3.5"
hard drives in the botom of the 9500, but this bracket was apparently quite
rare.

All 8600s and 9600s came with the bottom drive bracket as standard.
