Not sure if the 6500 has it or not.  I use a PowerMac for audio stuff also
and have found my 7500 upgraded with twin Quantum Atlas 10k SCSI drives
through an Adaptec 29160n SCSI card all powered by a Newertech G3/500 mhz
processor card rocks!  Main thing is speed and transfer rates of 39Megs/sec.

BTW: I do know of a few people in the music industry using ProTools on
upgraded 9500/9600's.
