Check http://www.os9forever.com/ for all the information on 
installing OS 9.2.2 on oldworld Macs.   I followed the process and 
the OS installed without a problem.   I do have the advantage of a 
spare partition to install a new OS in and fool around with it while 
still being able to go back to a supported OS 9.1 install.
