OK, tried that. Now to see if it works!

I have Normal set to A4 and other bits & pieces, but it often doesn't 
print that way (specifically the page setup and top margin).

Know of any cure for a typed line refusing to move across when the 
cursor is placed at the left end of the line and the tab or spacebar 
is used? Word and Eudora refuse these commands...
