Disk first aid shows the disk as perfectly fine and it did boot up once. I'll play more with it tonight, but it appears I have to beat on the pram a few times ny starting up with ctrl-opt-p-r before it boots properly. And Disk Warrior wouldn't do anything to fix it not booting from the System CD...since I'd need to boot from the DiskWarrior CD to get it to work.
