NO! Any DIMMs you have now that work with a 601, 603 or 604 processor should* work with G3 or G4 upgrade card in the same machine.
Your PCI Mac, such as a 7500, 8500 or 9600, will always and forever use 5 (five) volt 168-pin DIMMS. The voltage is determined by the motherboard and has nothing to do with what processor you're using. This will never, ever change. Any voltage change that may or may not be required for a particular processor is handled by circuitry on the processor daughter card. And, if some new generation of PPC processors comes out that needs only (say) 1.6 volts, that conversion would be handled by the ZIF processor card on the current crop of "new world" Macs. ------------------------------------- *Existing problems with memory that doesn't really meet Apple specifications may become more pronounced with a new processor that pushes more data through, faster.
