Thanks to all who posted ideas. Lots of great hints. Late last night I gave up
when I realized I couldn't hear the heads moving. Tried various forms of
persuasion to un-stick. This included the use of gravity, small hammer, cat,
etc. So, in the spirit of discovery, I took it apart. Post mortem showed the
voice coil on the head drive was cooked. Open coil, looks & smells like it
overheated. Too bad it wasn't a setting somewhere. Now I have a cool 7200 RPM
DC motor, hmmmmm.
Thanks again,
        John
