I was just organizing my Bookmarks and happen to notice, when I was
looking for a ZIF processor:
http://www.transintl.com/store/moreinfo.cfm?Product_ID=47

The only thing is they don't tell exactly the type of ZIF processor
(IBM or Motorola). I guess it's brand specific. Prices don't look too
bad. $275 for 500mhz G4 1mb/250 and G4 450 1mb/220 at $215. Can't
imagine you would notice a big difference; 50mhz might not be that
noticeable if you wanted to save a little. Of course, any amount of
increase in speed is always better. Don't know anything about this
company but something beside OWC to think about.

I got mine used when someone upgraded to G4 500 computer. He said he
didn't notice a real big difference from the G3 466 but imagine in
the long run you will notice the difference. I guess you expect it to
go at supersonic speeds at first.
