I've thrown all the suspects away, and run the gamut of remedies from TechT to Warrior, to Norton6, to Two Finder replacements, to defrag to Zap through extension sets. . . . But still no matter what program I activate the Finder in the Application menu becomes de-selected as it should BUT becomes very pale as well and all desktop icons vanish including the trash and "wipe Info" trash I just created. Clicking on the DT doesn't activate the Desktop, bringing back my open HD Window as it should - I have to click on the Finder icon itself in the Apps. menu. If I open Eudora say, the buttons appear with Eudora's upper menu, the clock time and the control strip stay put. The desktop pattern remains intact. How about my appearance extension - haven't replaced it yet? G3 on OS 9.2.1. I think I'd like to go back to what's stable for me in the 9500 - 8.6.
