Well, you go out to the garage and get your timing light, and connect it on pins 34 and 52 of your G3 chip... ;-P Many third party G3 and G4 PCI processors have switches or jumpers on them that allow you to change various parameters of the processor, like the processor speed: bus speed ratio(shich determines the final processor speed of your card), cache ratio, and delay timing. Likely what the other person did was pull back on the processor speed a bit, which sacrifices some speed for stability. Look at the manual for your processor upgrade. In my case (a 7600) I had to drop my G4 down to 424 MHz from it's rated 450 MHz to keep it from freezing up randomly.
