Anand, I have a Performa 6400 which originally had a Geo Port modem. General
consensus seems to be, throw it away !!! The Geo Port modems don't have an
on board processor, so they use the computer's CPU to do the modem's work.
This really slows the computer down when using modem, even after you go off
line as the memory may not be released (or something like that). Geo Port
probably saved $$$/helped keep price down. I put an internal Global Village
33.6 from a Clone machine in the Comm slot II, 5 years back, worked fine.
Have seen internal 56K modems offered. Over all, what I've read says, buy an
external 56K ...

Still have the 28.8 Geo Port modem that came w/the 6400, not sure if it
works w/ 5400.
Could ask on this list or go to, http://www.zone6400.com/
If it will work, it is yours for the mailing ...
