Must be smoking too many crooked cigs. Depending on what type of machine (desktops being the most typical case), it could take from 2 minutes to 4 or 5 for most Macs (the old compacts being on the long side). I can't think why the PRAM batteries in any Mac newer than 5 years would be worn out, but.... If Apple has made it such a task they have REALLY taken a giant leap backwards. A quick look at the "older" iMac service manual would have me believe that it couldn't take more than 5 minutes to get at the PRAM battery. Three screwes and three cables to disconnect.
