I need help. This is getting tedious. Long story involved here. I've posted
this before and got some good advice, but I still need help. It gets better.

Back story: I built a Power Macintosh 8500 from the ground up. Nearly
factory specs. (150Mhz 604, 80MB RAM, 1GB HD, 4x CD ROM, 8500 mainboard and
A/V card). I stuffed it into a Power Macintosh 7500 box to make getting to
hardware easier. Installed Mac OS 8.1, retail box. All went well.
Tried to install Mac OS 9.1, retail box. I get an error telling me that the
installer script doesn't recognize the computer, to please use the software
that came with the computer.
On a whim, I pulled the hard drive and installed it in a different machine.
Installed Mac OS 9.1 without issue. Put the hard drive back in the 8500 and
it runs fine.
Why won't the software install directly? Any clues?

New story: Want to update my Power Macintosh 7500 (nowhere near factory
specs) to Mac OS 9.2.2 to get it ready for OS 10.2. Get an error telling me
that the software won't run on my computer, to check the documentation.
Any clues?
Thanks in advance.
