Hi Steve.

I have a 9600/350 upgraded with an xlr8 g4/450 ZIF carrier.

Not sure about the 9500, but no on the 9600. The 8600, which shares the same
case, can accommodate the A/V module. The 8600 also has built-in video on the
board whereas the 9600 needs a video card. But the 9600 has 6 PCI slots which,
IMHO, makes up for it.

Again, not sure about the 9500. The 8600/9600 has four front bays (counting the
bay where the floppy drive sits), one rear bay, and a bottom mounting plate that
can accommodate two hard drives. If you use both spaces you lose access to the
lowest PCI slot, though if only one space is used there is still plenty of room
for a short card. (I stuck my USB card there.)

Only from the earlier Tsunami 8600/9600, which use the 604e processors up to
233MHz. The Kansas 8600/9600 use the 250, 300, and 350 MHz 604ev "Mach V"
processors and are not interchangeable with the Tsunami or other PCI Macs.

Can't recall which site, but either lowendmac.com, everymac.com, or
xlr8yourmac.com has a movie of the 8600/9600 case being opened.

Try the swap list or eBay.

One thing to keep in mind: I take it you're going to transfer you xlr8 g4 to
whichever system you buy. If it turns out to be a 9600, you may run into the
"Six Slot Problem" using a g4 card that does not address it. For some reason the
7400 G4 interferes with bus cards in either the upper or lower PCI bus, I forget
which. When they were still around, xlr8 made specific cards with a Six Slot
Solution to rectify this problem.
