Thank you Anna, Tim and John, I had written: > For some reason when I try to print anything at > all, I receive the message "The selected port is in use. Anna answered: >"To zap PRAM you can use a utility like TechTool3 or you >can hold down 4 keys, Option-Command-P-R while starting >up the computer. Do this after a shutdown, not a restart." I had zapped the PRAM, but did it from restart; in fact I did not know that there was any difference between that and shutdown! Tim answered: >Just for kicks and giggles, go to your AppleTalk control panel and take it off >'printer port' and put it on 'ethernet.' I've done this. John answered: >Trash Finder Preferences, Chooser Preferences and AppleTalk Preferences, >rebuild desktop and zap PRAM. HURRAH!!!!!!! Something (?) or everything worked!! The printer is up and running. This, after 3 days of struggle. I don't know why I wait so long to ask! Many, many thanks, Joan -- PCI-PowerMacs is sponsored by <http://lowendmac.com/> and...
