Is getting a bootable ATA adapter sufficient to allow booting off of an 
attached CD drive (actually CD-RW), or is there an Apple ROM issue even 
with IDE cds?

Looking hard at replacing my entire internal SCSI drive and CD system, 
with  IDE drives , but booting from CD is an absolute must.

I suppose I could put the current CD in an external SCSI case and use 
that if necessary.
