Of course, a list like this isn't grammar related. We don't search our inputs before we send them for every possible mistake. That is why it is a list. But, believe me, anytime I send something in for publication, I edit it on screen, print it out, then edit it again. Make corrections and then print it out one more time. Then lay it aside and re-edit. The best way to learn to edit, is take one of these 200 words or less story offers and write your story. Example: We want your article on "Your car to remember." It is fun to try to get a 400 word story down to 200 words. I sent in a 4 page article to Guideposts, and the editor had to hone it down to one page. You can read that page in the August 93 edition of Guidposts. Guidposts is the top Christian Writer publication. You can't get any higher than that. The article was republished in the Spanish Guidposts, as well. It takes work, if you expect them to pay you for what you have written. My homepage is up and you can see some of my articles, but, remember, it is still being worked on. My last ISP went belly up, so I am slowly rebuilding my homepage. You can check out a couple of articles I had published, and believe me, they did not change a word in them, without permission. They only bought the first publishing rights and not the full rights. Guidposts, buys your article and edits it and THEY own the rights to the edited version.
Only a fool would buy 2000 dollar Windows machine to only do free-lance writing, but there is a sucker born every day and a million suckers sold one of those machines every year. I can't count the number of times I have written to Readers Digest and have been rejected. It's a tough market for a free-lancer, ... but it can be fun, especially if you have an old Mac and a good wordprocessor. Most of my articles published was using Allwrite and a TRS-80 MODE IV. Oh, by the way, I am the standing champion for the number of times my letters-to-the-editor appeared in NEA-TODAY, and I have been banned from the editorial pages of the Oklahoma Daily!! Hee, hee, Everyone of your children should have their own computer, a Mac, in their room. I'll let you know when I get another article published, but right now, I have a house and garage full of Macs that I have to get rid of, before I get seriously back into free-lancing. And, say, I went into one of the 4th grade classes yesterday where they were getting to work on LAPTOPS! The first one they booted up, wouldn't boot beyone the first Windows screen. Gosh, what iodiocy my school district has when it comes to computer decisions. And finally, what about a person with one hand. Who wants to take time out to capitalize the first word of every sentence for just a list like this. Dale -- Caddo County Harpman - ccharpman! "If you can't harp the blues, then you ain't a harp player." (Eladicious 5,02) ADD RE to TIRED and you get ... me. X-Public School Educator.
