Yes. I do.
I had this annoying problem for the past week or so. ....or at least I hope
that HAD is the right word.
A bad case of misdirection.
I upgraded my old Daystar PCI Mac Clone with a Sonnet Crescendo 800 Mhz
Processor Upgrade on Sept 13th and put in a OrangeLink+ PCI card on Sept 25.
Thats the one with two firewire and three USB ports. At the same time I
inherited one of the Blue and white 17-inch Apple monitors that came with
the B&W G3 Yosemite towers.
Running OS 9.1 and OS 8.6 on a partitioned 18 gig SCSI internally mounted.
1.5 Gigs of RAM installed.
My video card is the 64 meg 3dfx Voodoo5 5500.
Anyway....suddenly I had NO BONG chime when I started up and had to restart
two times in order to get a green light lit up on the monitor. The light
stayed orange and the screen stayed black for the first startup.
Within three or four days it went from a double start to a triple and then
four or five restarts to get video on.
I thought that I had Power Supply or PCI bus problems so I moved everything
to the top slots. No better.
I pulled the 64 meg card and put in a 16 meg Voodoo3 2000. No better.
I Zapped PRAM and hit the CUDA switch. No better.
I installed a BRAND NEW 2002 3.6 volt battery.............yersterday before
I went in to work........and suddenly today the problem seems to have gone
away.
Fancy that>
