I just installed Darwin on my office G3 (rev 3 beige, MT) and ran into a different problem- it didn't like my IDE cd drive! My solution to that problem probably wouldn't be the best for a how-to either; I grabbed a SCSI cd drive out of the filing cabinet :). There are a few more machines that I can practice the install on- an 8600, and possibly a couple of G3 desktops. Perhaps if I succeed with no new problems, I'll try a more formal write-up. In the meantime, if anyone wants to try the install but are scared, I'm willing to help.
