I posted that as mostly a joke.  It really would take amazing 
soldering abilities and it's not clear you could get the voltage 
levels to match up on the IO lines.   There are 304 closely spaced 
(.02" pitch?) pins on the PPC processor and they are delicate and 
easily bent.   Though I did see someone selling a PPC601 CPU on Ebay 
as a "Pull".   I.e. just the CPU.  They were reselling a desoldered 
CPU.   Oy.

Anyway, there's no guide.  You could download the data sheets on the 
PPC601 versions to see how the voltage levels vary with CPU version, 
and the LT1085 voltage regulator to see how changing two resistors 
affects the voltage level output and work from there.  You might also 
visit Chip Quik's web site for advice on desoldering surface mount 
devices.   But as far as I know, no-one has actually done what I 
suggest.

I believe that MacResQ or one of the other repair houses has replaced 
the PPC601 CPU on a PM9150/120 board, but I don't know from where 
they got the replacement CPU and they probably have a nice hot air 
station.
