The older PC hand scanners have connectors on them that look like Mac serial 
plugs.  They are actually plug into a special Bus card that Microsoft made 
for the PC.  There is very little chance the scanner will work in a Mac, 
because I believe lots of the line voltages are different.  I have a 
Logitech ScanMan Color that works this way.  Hope this helps.
