It shouldn't be a problem. You can even use two volumes (partitions) on the same hard 
drive.

However, if the OS 9.1 disk is formatted with HFS+(Mac OS Extended format), you won't 
be able to read it when you start up from 8.0. For that and other reasons, you should 
probably upgrade 8.0 to 8.1. The only reason for not doing so would be if you have 
some old hardware or software that works with 8.0 but not 8.1.
