Just yesterday, I got a PowerMac 7500 for $30 at a used computer
store. I'm using it as my computer for home (my dorm has my powerful
dual 500 MHz G4). The main problem right now is the RAM - it only has
24 MB. It also has a 1 GB hard drive (sufficient for now, since I'm
only using it for web and email while at home, and a few games). I've
installed OS 8.6 on the hard drive, and I put a spare 13" Performa
Plus monitor on it. I come home on weekends, so I want to order some
memory now so I'll have it for next weekend. My question is what kind
of RAM I should get. I looked at ramseeker and it looks like a 128 MB
DIMM will cost about $25, but I heard that you should interleave the
RAM in this computer (I suppose that means it makes things faster if
you upgrade the RAM in pairs). Any suggestions here?

Also, there seem to be a lot of slots inside the computer - quite a
few for RAM, and some that look different for the RAM slots but
they're in the same place, and some in the back (presumably for
VRAM). Finally, this computer shows up as a 7600 in Apple System
Profiler, even though it's in a 7500 case and has a 100 MHz 601
processor, so I suppose it uses a 7600 motherboard with an AV
personality card.

Any suggestions on what I should do? I'm thinking first I should get
RAM, then a better processor (maybe a 604e from a 7300 would be
good), and then a better video card and monitor (at least a 14",
preferably a 15").

Thanks a lot for any help you can give me! This is my first PCI
PowerMac and all the upgrade options are a bit confusing (I used to
have an 8100 but those seem much simpler).
