I have a 7300 connected with cablemodem - > ethernet. You'll need 8.6 because of a different extra field line to fill in in the TCP/IP panel , probably named "client ID" - that is some sort of ID password that is used to identify you in there network, you can write in whatever comes to mind actually, and then this ID is bounded with the IP address. I tried to just exchange the one TCP/IP panel into 8.1 but it crashed without mercy. 8.6 won't make the 7300 really slower or so compared with 8.1, in fact 8.1 is strange, because some applications open very slow in 8.6 all goes fast, (sw language versions) and you should upgrade directly from 8.5, not from 8.5.1, to avoid problems kenta -- -- PCI-PowerMacs is sponsored by <http://lowendmac.com/> and...
