Can't help w/netgear card, did you try their site ?

OS 9 runs fine on a 6400. I think 9.1 is faster/more stable tho ...
Stock 603e/180, max RAM, small L2 cache, older ATi XClaim 4MB PCI card, 10GB
Quantum HD, 24x CD, Farallon ethernet PCI card, A/V card, TV tuner card,
global village 56K in comm slot.
9.1 worked well w/a sonnet L2 G3 in the same machine.
When I removed the sonnet card recently, I copied all 3rd party stuff to an
external SCSI drive, using FileCopier 1.0 ...

then using CD, zeroed the 10 GB and initialized w/Drive Setup 2.0.7,
completely new install of 9.1 ... then cleaned up 3rd party stuff while on
external drive and used FileCopier back to 10Gig

Have not tried OS 9.2x on the Performa yet, but 6400 Zone has all the info;
