We've had this discussion over on the Xpostfacto board and the Sonnet software is much faster than the Xpostfacto software. It seems to enable the caches earlier in the startup process too. Also when you are doing a fresh install of OS X, Xpostfacto doesn't enable the caches when it reboots, but the Sonnet software does which speeds up the whole process. Sure it's a paid upgrade, but it's like very stable software. I think some people don't like the idea they should pay for something when there is a free alternative.
