another answer to the same problem would be that some extension was 
conflicting with stuffit E, in that case make a profile with just 
stuffit and dropstuff and a few other well known extensions active 
restart and use that for opening, or find the troublesome extension 
by trial and error  - but that'll B a week of restarting.
