As for the adapter, yes you need one to connect a Mac monitor to a 
VGA port.   It is a relatively specialized part and one was supplied 
with the StarMax computers when they were new.   In addition, Griffen 
technology has a line of adapters, but I'm not sure which one is the 
correct one for use with the StarMax.
