Last time I looked there was somebody selling a bunch of new generic 
SCSI 24x CD-ROM drives on eBay starting at $1, supposedly Mac-bootable. 
Not sure if an extra extension is needed for them, but I'd assume so. 
Most of the "Apple" brand drives there are pulls, however with luck and 
willingness to pay a premium for it you may be able to find a new one there.
