I have a 8600/300mhz and a 8500/150mhz. I have a XLR8 MACh Carrier G3 which I

the
8500?

Not a chance.

Your 300 MHz 8600 is a Mach5 motherboard and CPU design; your 150 MHz 8500 is
an earlier design which is incompatible with your 300 MHz processor card.

Pre-Mach5 motherboards require either: 1) a pre-Mach5 Apple processor card,
or 2) a third-party processor card which is designed to work in either a
non-Mach5 or a Mach5 motherboard.

Mach5 motherboards require either: 1) a Mach5 Apple processor card, or 2) a
third-party processor card which is designed to work in either a Mach5 or a
non-Mach5 motherboard.
