The 740 should have a "utility" that allows you to check for ink level
and to perform tests. Go to the "page setup" under the "file" menu.
There are 2 icons at the top of the window that opens. The one that
looks like a pair of tools is your utility. After you click on it check
the ink level remaining and also perform a check to see if the nozzles
are clogged. You may have to clean the heads a few times depending upon
how the new test page appears.

It may be a case of needing a new cartridge, or just a head cleaning.
