Calling All Eudora Users Eudoras so flexible. . . it gets a bum rap for bein troublesome. Ive seen a Newbie dance and shout when he discovered that Mac Balloon Help works for every little Eudora checkpoint. . . wait a minute. . . That was me!
But I digress. . . Big Duh! tonight I typed, Sending Eudora Attachments into Goog. Ive been needing to read the following for two weeks! Note that MacBinary is a more popular standard than AppleDouble to represent a Macintosh file on non Macintosh systems and it produces only one file. However, unlike BinHex, MacBinary is useless in mail, because it's binary and can't be mailed. You have to wrap it in something else, like base64 (in which case you might as well have used AppleDouble). So what settings should be used in Eudora? If you are mailing to ONLY Macintosh users, then select BinHex. If you don't know what is at the remote end but you know it can handle MIME, then select AppleDouble. If you know that the remote end is a PC and CANNOT understand MIME, then use UUENCODE format. Note that Eudora 3 allows you to exclude Macintosh information in outgoing mail messages that are sent with BinHex. If selected then the creator and type of the file is sent with the attachment. ______________________________________ (and Im presuming he meant to add, and you dont want that.) How is base 64 similar to AppleDouble, or is one just an updated version of the other? T Terry -- PCI-PowerMacs is sponsored by <http://lowendmac.com/> and...
