I isolated the power sup[ply as the problem in the 8500 that is now a shell
for sale, but before tossing the p.s., I opened it just for a look see.
Nothing was obviously crisped up, no poofed and leaking capacitors, no clues
for me (basically lacking any expertise to interpret any but the grossest)
but I did notice the fuse. It seems to be intact. It looks like any other
fuse on its ends, but the middle, where I'm accustomed to seeing a glass
tube with a wire running through it, seems like its made of paper. What's
the deal, and what would it look like if it were blown?
