Yes, there is a free utility called DMG Mechanic that will let you
change the type & creator codes so that Disk Copy will open it.
See: http://www.lafty.com/dmgmechanic.shtml
However I think you may need to update Disk Copy to handle .DMG images
(the web page is not clear on this).
