Hi, I installed a generic Firewire card in my 7300/200 (original daughter card and CPU!). I have 256 MB of RAM and had a paltry 2GB HD. I hooked up a Panasonic DV Camcorder to it and I was able to run iMovie2 (OS 9.1). Now of course I got only about a minute of recording due to the size of my hard drive BUT it still worked. Other quirks with using it with pre-G3 machines are : choppy video and sound, VERY slow transitions. It was neat experimenting with it but it would probably run just fine with your G4 upgrade card. Make sure you have enough RAM and hard drive space. As well because I didn't have Firewire originally when I installed the OS, the card didn't work at first. You need to make sure that the Apple Firewire drivers are installed before you use it.
