Hello fellow listers

I wonder if anyone can explain a strange message and behaviour that
occurs when I try to shut down my beige g3 / 233. (apparently it is
happening with my daughters G3 / 233 powerbook too as I found out today)
Both are using OS 9.1

Other specs : 112 MB, USB card, external scsi HD and burner, USB
scanner, ethernet connection and internet sharing of ADSL connection
with other machines in various rooms in the house. It is also the
printer server for the other macs - canon 4650. Fairly standard suite of
software....eg, ms office, graphic converter, ircle, mozilla.....
nothing new has been added for a while. I've tried zapping p-ram,
running disk warrior, rebuilding desktop to no avail as yet.

Anyway, when I try to shut down either using the keyboard or menu, I get
a message that says it cant shut down because there is an app running. I
go to the menu bar and there is no other app running. The only way I can
shut it down is to force quit and press the power button as it starts up.

very puzzling as it has only started to do that in the last few weeks,
and as I said, my daughters pb is doing the same apparently.

The other 2 macs in the house ... 9600 / G3 450 , and 7600/200 , both
also using OS 9.1 , and sharing the same network are behaving properly.
Any thoughts or suggestions greatly appreciated.

Thanks

Tim Roberts

Oh by the way, if anyone was wondering, the latest flash plugin from
macromedia supports opera and mozilla as well as IE and netscape
