Yes, AVP only needs the main QT extension, not the gaggle of other ones.
Additional info may not be helpful to you:  I'm running AVP under System
7.5, and when I installed it with a newer version (1.4) of the Video Startup
extension than it says it requires (1.3.2), it refused to run claiming it
required Video Startup extension "1.32 or later".  I trashed the 1.4
version, installed the older version and it runs fine.  Of course, this is a
much older configuration than you have so none of this may help...
