Subject: "Unable to Print. Serial Port is in use by another Application..."

Sometimes (usually when my wife needs to print somethimg right
NOW!)
My PowerCenter 180, OS 9.1, pops up this warning window: "Unable to
Print. The Serial Port is in use by another Application..." It also
tells me to quit the other app(s) and try again.

I'm not sure if this will work with OS 9.1, but here goes: Open "Apple
Talk" and then select Printer in the "Connect via" dropdown button.
Next, in the Chooser, select AppleTalk.

I'm using OS 8.1 with a 4/600 Apple printer, and just recently
discovered that I also needed to check the "remote only" Extension in
order to print consistently from from Web.

Does anyone on the PCI-Powermacs List know how I can set up my
4/600 printer without using Apple Talk? Or, where I can find the
instructions. I have the connecting cables, but not the know-how.
