Gecina and Paul,
That's about all I could think of.
I post with Outlook Express, and under
Format > Character Set > it lets me select
Western ISO, or UTF-8, or Chinese...etc.
I thought that maybe AOL had the same Format menu.
Guessed wrong!

When I just tried to post to this list using some "Bold" styled text
in my message, I got the following message from the daemon:

So I suppose the list can only handle plain vanilla text.
