Yes, my system profiler (8500, OS 8.6) lists my Lacie 8X/4X  vendor 
as Matshita model CD-ROM CR-8005A
Revision number 4.0i.  It tells me that the driver version is unavailable. ???

My Toast software, however, says my  Lacie is  Matshita model CD-RW 7585.
