The only real difference between the 7500/7600 and 8500 MBs is the AV
capability of the 8500. Both series MBs can handle sound/video in and sound
out, but the 8500 has video out capabilities as well. Both series can use the
AV connector cards interchangeably, only accessing those ports for which they
have support chips. Either MB group makes a quick, inexpensive upgrade to the
7200 and allows for inexpensive further upgrades to G3/G4 as compared to the
7200 upgrade boards. I have numerous 7500/7600s in my network, one of which
started life as a 7200/75. They work great as audio processing units, CD
burner, scanning, printer server stations, etc. (I have the original 7200/75 in
good working condition if anyone needs one.)
